Estimator

Position Summary

The Estimator plays a key role in supporting the sales and operations teams by preparing accurate quantity takeoffs, pricing, and proposals for commercial flooring projects. Reporting to the Senior Estimator, this role ensures bids are submitted on time, reflect project requirements, and contribute to profitable and well-executed work. The Estimator collaborates with team members across sales, operations, and vendors to support project pursuit and preconstruction efforts.

Key Accountabilities

Quantity Takeoffs

Perform accurate and timely takeoffs using digital software for flooring, wall base, and other finishes. Validate plans, specs, and addenda to ensure completeness.

Proposal Development

Assemble proposal packages including scope sheets, pricing, clarifications, alternates, and inclusions. Tailor each proposal to the specific client and project.

Pricing & Vendor Coordination

Obtain pricing from vendors and subcontractors. Apply pricing strategies aligned with desired margins and project complexity.

Bid Management & Timelines

Manage assigned deadlines to ensure bids are submitted on or before due dates. Communicate proactively about any delays or obstacles.

Preconstruction Collaboration

Support handoff meetings and ensure clear communication of scope, quantities, and assumptions to project management and field teams

System & Process Discipline

Maintain organized and complete estimating files using the company's standardized systems, software, and templates.

Scope Clarification & RFI Generation

Identify unclear or missing information in bid documents and escalate to the Senior Estimator or generate RFIs as needed.

Learning & Development

Continuously improve speed, accuracy, and technical knowledge through on-the-job learning and training. Seek feedback and implement it constructively.

Margin Awareness

Estimate projects with a clear understanding of target margins and company pricing strategy. Avoid scope gaps or risky exclusions.

Team Support & Responsiveness

Actively support the estimating team and respond promptly to requests from Senior Estimators, Sales, or Project Managers.
