Custodian

Position Purpose Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of office spaces and common spaces across campus. Essential Responsibilities and Duties Remove office and building trash Wash windows, clean showers, bathrooms, and public areas using wet/dry mop, vacuum cleaner, cleaning cloths and cleaning solutions Follow safety instructions and procedures related to clothing, gloves, goggles, masks and use of cleaning chemicals Cleans, strips and waxes tile and floors Shampoo and extract carpeting Maintain vacuums and other equipment by installing new vacuum bags and mop heads and moving equipment as necessary Remove snow from entryways and walkways Assist with special events including table and chair setup Pitches in to assist colleagues when needed Qualifications Physical ability to lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) and stand, bend and stoop for extended periods Safety conscious with ability to read, write and understand written and verbal instructions Ability to work on weekends and have two weekdays off Full‑time employees must participate in an on‑call rotation to support campus operations during evenings, weekends, and emergencies as needed Valid NYS driver’s license with a clean driving record Ability to foster an inclusive, diverse and culturally vibrant community and promote belonging among students, faculty, staff and alumni Compensation Hourly rate: $16.00.
