Lead GroundskeeperLead Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining natural environments under the direction of the Director of Facilities. The Lead Groundskeeper reviews daily assignments with staff and communicates with the Director of Facilities on any disciplinary or other concerns related to groundskeeping. This position is considered an "Essential Personnel" and as such is expected to work during weather and other types of emergencies which may occur outside of the normal work schedule. Timberlane Regional School District is an Equal Opportunity EmployerPosition Duties And ResponsibilitiesSupports and performs all duties of Groundskeepers as noted below.Provides recommendations to the Facilities Director regarding hiring, evaluation and discipline of subordinate personnel.Attends necessary training and obtains appropriate licenses related to upkeep of district grounds.Trains grounds maintenance personnel in proper maintenance routines and procedures.Reviews daily assignments with staff and addresses any staff concerns.Assigns work to prevent premature deterioration of grounds components and equipment.Conduct safety inspections of all fields, grounds, playgrounds, and structures and reports any issues to the Director of Plant operationsEnsures all playing surfaces are ready for play including mowing, lining, raking, mound building/repairs, and inspections of fields for safety and cleanliness prior to any game or activity.Directs snow removal and ice mitigation on the secondary campus and other as needed.Reports issues which may interfere with the safe opening of schools to the Director of Facilities.Installs, maintains, and tends to gardens, lawns and sporting fields and venues for all district buildings.Cares for and cultivate foliage including planting, fertilizing, mowing, weeding, watering, trimming and pruning, soil conditioning, mulching and applying pesticides.Tends to safety complaints reported on district grounds.Ensures pathways, stairs, outdoor seating, and other structures are safe.Sets up and cleans up for sports and district events outdoor (and often indoor).Installs sprinkler and irrigation systems.Prepares outdoor areas for various weather conditions by weatherproofing, covering outdoor furniture with tarps, tying down unsecured items, etc.Maintains fences, outdoor structures, and team areas.Schedules specialty services such as ground leveling or patio installation.Operates and maintains garden and landscaping equipment (including mowers, golf cart, side-by-side, district trucks and trailers).Orders supplies and equipment and maintaining paperwork for purchases.Keeps daily logs, records and receipts of all ground's functions.Complies with service standards, work instructions and grounds requirements for the district.Maintains a safe work environment.Maintains confidentiality of information.Complies with all Timberlane Regional School District policy and building / department rules, procedures, practices, and objectives.Performs all duties in a professional and appropriate manner while interacting with students, parents, faculty, administration, and co-workers.Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as assigned by their supervisor.Minimum QualificationsEducation And ExperienceHigh School Diploma or GED equivalentThree years of successful prior experience in field turf management, irrigation maintenance, and grounds operation required.License/CertificationValid state driver's licenseNecessary Knowledge, Skills, And AbilitiesAbility to coordinate with facilities management, respond to requests, and communicate clear instructions to the grounds crew.Ability to delegate tasks, train team members, and monitor the quality of completed work.Experienced in grounds and landscape operations and/or management.Demonstrate positive work habits by showing initiative, cooperation, dependability, efficiency, and productivity.Ability to learn and successfully work with appropriate financial and payroll software.Ability to safely use and maintain groundskeeping equipment including lawn mowers, string trimmers, leaf blowers, chain saws, infield rakes, tractors, snowblowers and plow trucks.Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.Ability to understand written and verbal communications.Physical Activity RequirementsPrimary Physical Requirements(Not, Rarely, Occasionally, or Frequently Required)1. More than 2/3 of the time is spent climbing or reaching with hands or arms walking, talking, listening, or using hands to finger, handle or feel. There is occasional lifting to 50 lbs.
