Job Title: Production Operator Job Description

This role works within the Production Department as a Material Handler, Fork Truck Driver, and Conveyance Operator. You will support daily production by safely handling materials, operating forklifts, and ensuring that parts and finished goods move efficiently through the facility. You also perform general production duties and help maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.

Responsibilities

• Work within the Production Department as a Material Handler, Fork Truck Driver, and Conveyance Operator to support daily operations.

• Unload materials from incoming vehicles and stack them in assigned locations in a safe and organized manner.

• Move pallets to and from the assembly line and designated storage locations in accordance with safety standards.

• Perform all Production Team Member duties and responsibilities as needed to support production output.

• Maintain and follow all required safety rules and procedures while performing all tasks.

• Maintain a valid fork truck certification and carry the certification at all times while performing fork truck duties.

• Complete all pre-shift and post-shift checklists and equipment inspections to ensure safe and reliable operation.

• Receive all incoming freight, verify contents, and route materials to appropriate areas.

• Complete and process all necessary paperwork related to incoming freight, material movement, and production activities.

• Supply the Production Department with all necessary parts and materials in a timely manner to avoid delays.

• Off-load deliveries of tires, wheels, and other raw materials, ensuring proper handling and storage.

• Inspect tires, wheels, other parts, and finished assemblies in accordance with established inspection standards.

• Maintain correct sequence of parts and finished goods, and communicate with internal customers to ensure accuracy and flow.

• Complete all working documentation, records, and reports accurately and on time as requested.

• Perform basic troubleshooting, problem solving, and countermeasure activities to address issues that arise in material flow or production support.

• Keep the work environment safe, clean, and organized at all times, following 5S and housekeeping practices where applicable.

• Serve as a backup for production operations when needed, including general labor, assembly, packaging, and machine operation tasks.

• Perform other duties as assigned to support production and material handling needs.

Essential Skills

• Experience working in a production or manufacturing environment.

• Ability to perform general labor, assembly, and packaging tasks safely and efficiently.

• Forklift operation experience with the ability to obtain and maintain valid fork truck certification.

• Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately for inspection and assembly tasks.

• Experience with basic inspection of parts and finished assemblies against defined standards.

• Ability to operate production and material-handling machinery as required.

• Strong attention to safety and adherence to safety rules and procedures.

• Ability to complete pre- and post-shift inspections and checklists accurately.

• Capability to handle and move materials such as tires, wheels, and other raw materials.

• Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a production support environment.

• Ability to complete documentation, records, and reports clearly and accurately.

• Strong communication skills to coordinate with internal customers and team members.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Prior experience as a Material Handler, Fork Truck Driver, or Conveyance Operator in a production environment.

• Experience in a Tier 1 automotive or similar high-volume manufacturing setting.

• Familiarity with sequencing of parts and finished goods for just-in-time production.

• Comfort working in a structured, safety-focused environment with defined standards and procedures.

• Ability to support and coordinate with a larger production team and serve as backup in multiple roles.

Work Environment

This position is based in a temperature-controlled production facility, providing a comfortable and consistent working climate. You work closely with production and material handling teams and may support up to 50 team members in daily operations. The environment includes forklifts, conveyors, and production machinery, and you follow strict safety and housekeeping standards to keep the area clean and organized. Dress typically aligns with a manufacturing setting, including appropriate workwear and any required personal protective equipment, to ensure safety while handling materials and operating equipment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Paris, KY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.95 - $19.95/hr.
