Travel MachinistThe Travel Machinist sets up and operates CNC machining centers, manual and CNC mills, manual lathes, and related equipment to produce precision, large-scale parts in a timely and accurate manner. This role requires independent setup, tooling changes, and quality inspection, with a focus on tight tolerances and working from detailed blueprints in a high-volume, industrial machine shop environment.Shift: Friday - Tuesday, 7:30 PM to 6:00 AM. Additional days/hours will be required for overtime, for a total of 60 hours per week.Responsibilities:Set up and operate CNC Machining Centers, Manual and CNC Mills, Manual and CNC Lathes in order to produce precision parts in a timely mannerAlign and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machineSelect the appropriate tools and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work.Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as CNC Mills, CNC Lathes, and Grinders.Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine toolsCalculate dimensions and tolerances using instruments such as micrometers, depth micrometers, inside diameter gauges, and outside diameter gaugesRead and understand blueprints and gauging sheetsOperate hoist in order to load parts onto machining center, lathe, or millPerform own quality checks - They have a check sheet within plex which is their computer program Machinist are required to check every partEssential Skills:CNC Machining on lathes and millsAbility to independently setup the machineAbility to independently change toolingWorking with Large scale partsBlueprint readingAbility to hold tight machining tolerances +/-0.001" 0.004 -.005 of an inch tolerancesAdditional Skills & Qualifications:Experience with Fanuc controls.Programming experience on CNC machines.Past experience working an overnight shiftWhy Work Here?This role offers the opportunity to travel while working in a sophisticated, large-scale machine shop that supports diverse industries including oil and gas, aerospace, mining, and heavy equipment. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
