Job Description

This role involves safely removing hazardous building materials from residential and commercial structures, including asbestos, lead-based paint, mold, insulation, and materials involved in demolition and environmental remediation. You will work on construction and environmental projects that require strict adherence to safety regulations, use of protective equipment, and compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Remove hazardous building materials, including asbestos, lead paint, mold, and insulation, from residential and commercial structures in accordance with regulatory and safety standards.
• Perform demolition and environmental remediation tasks as part of construction and abatement projects.
• Set up, maintain, and dismantle containment areas and negative air environments to ensure safe abatement conditions.
• Wear and properly use personal protective equipment, including protective suits and respirators, for extended periods in contained work environments.
• Work in confined spaces and high-temperature environments while maintaining safety and productivity.
• Perform heavy physical labor over prolonged periods, including lifting materials up to 60 pounds, standing for long durations, and crawling as needed.
• Follow all OSHA, HAZWOPER, and site-specific safety procedures and participate in safety meetings and training as required.
• Travel locally within the assigned region to various job sites using reliable transportation.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area and properly handle, package, and dispose of hazardous materials according to regulations.

Essential Skills

• Relevant experience in an abatement field for asbestos or insulation.
• Ability to wear and use a respirator without obstruction and work in full personal protective equipment.
• Capability to perform heavy physical work over prolonged periods, including lifting up to 60 lbs, extended standing, and crawling.
• Ability to work safely in confined areas and high-temperature environments.
• Reliable transportation for local travel within the assigned region.
• Strong safety awareness and ability to follow detailed procedures and regulatory requirements.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in building trades, demolition, HVAC, water mitigation, construction, asbestos, lead, or mold remediation is preferred.
• Asbestos Worker Certification (32-hour "Asbestos Worker Initial" course) is a strong plus.
• Prior asbestos abatement experience is highly valued, even if the certification is not currently active.
• Experience with other types of abatement work (such as lead or mold) is beneficial.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 training is advantageous.
• HAZWOPER certification or experience working under HAZWOPER guidelines is a plus.

Work Environment

The role is physically demanding, requiring frequent lifting up to 60 pounds, extended periods of standing and crawling, and hands-on work with tools and abatement equipment. Work is performed on-site at various locations within the local region, so you will travel between job sites as needed. The environment is highly safety-focused, with strict adherence to OSHA, HAZWOPER, and other regulatory standards, and requires consistent use of appropriate protective attire and equipment.

The pay range for this position is $45760.00 - $45760.00/yr.
