Progressive Care Unit Nurse (PCU/SDU RN)

Overview PCU RNs closely monitor patients recently released from the ICU before those patients are moved to regular hospital beds. PCU RNs monitor cardiac and other critical vital signs and detect any changes, thereby enabling intervention for life-threatening or emergency situations. PCU RNs work in hospitals and usually float as needed to Telemetry or Medical-Surgical units. Responsibilities Monitor patients recently discharged from the ICU for changes in vital signs and condition. Detect life-threatening or emergency changes and initiate timely interventions. Float between Telemetry and Medical-Surgical units as needed. Education / Requirements Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN): 4-year education Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN): 2-year education You must earn an ADN or BSN degree and pass the NCLEX to apply for licensure as a Registered Nurse. RN must hold an active state license. ACLS is often required #J-18808-Ljbffr RN.com
