Job Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Senior Interior Designer / Project Manager to lead interior design projects from concept through completion. This role combines creative design expertise with strong project management skills and is responsible for the successful execution of projects across all phases, including client interaction, schematic design, design presentations, design development, construction documentation coordination, and project implementation.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to translate client visions into thoughtful, sophisticated, and functional interiors while managing project schedules, budgets, consultants, vendors, and overall project coordination. As a key member of our team, the Senior Interior Designer / Project Manager will oversee projects ranging from residential renovations to large scale remodeling initiatives, ensuring design intent is maintained while meeting applicable building requirements, project timelines, and budget parameters.

This position requires a strong balance of creativity, technical knowledge, organization, leadership, and client facing skills, with a commitment to delivering exceptional design and a high level of service from project inception through completion.

Responsibilities:

• Manage interior design projects from concept through completion, ensuring design quality, project scope, schedules, and deliverables are successfully maintained.
• Work closely with the Design Directors and clients to understand project goals, functional requirements, aesthetic direction, and overall scope.
• Develop project schedules and manage key milestones, client presentations, approvals, deliverables, and deadlines across multiple active projects.
• Develop and execute design concepts, including space planning, furniture layouts, lighting, finishes, materials, and custom design elements.
• Prepare and coordinate design and construction documentation, including floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, lighting plans, interior elevations, finish plans, design-intent millwork drawings, and project schedules.
• Prepare custom furniture and furnishing drawings and coordinate design details with fabricators and vendors.
• Create and coordinate client presentations, material selections, 3D renderings, color elevations, and other visual materials that clearly communicate the project’s design direction.
• Coordinate with architects, contractors, engineers, consultants, vendors, and fabricators to ensure accurate communication and execution of the approved design intent.
• Manage client relationships and communication throughout the project, including presentations, progress updates, design approvals, outstanding decisions, and expectations regarding scope and schedule.
• Coordinate with the FF&E team on the selection, specification, procurement, and installation of furniture, lighting, materials, and accessories.
• Support projects during construction by reviewing submittals, responding to RFIs and design-related questions, addressing field conditions, and coordinating necessary design revisions.
• Review project documentation for accuracy, consistency, and alignment with applicable project requirements and relevant building codes.
• Monitor overall project progress and provide regular status updates to the Design Directors and Studio Manager, identifying deadlines, outstanding items, and potential issues requiring attention.
• Maintain organized and accurate project files, drawings, specifications, schedules, selections, and other documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
• Communicate professionally and proactively with clients, internal team members, consultants, contractors, and vendors while representing the studio to a high professional standard.

Experience

• Proven experience as a Senior Interior Designer or Project Manager with a portfolio showcasing residential interior design projects, renovations, or remodeling initiatives.
• Extensive proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, along with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Creative Suite for rendering and presentation purposes.
• Strong understanding of building information modeling (BIM) tools for efficient project coordination and documentation.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects from initial concept through final installation while maintaining strict adherence to budgets and timelines.
• Knowledge of building code compliance standards related to residential interiors and remodeling projects.
• Excellent client communication skills with a talent for translating ideas into clear visual presentations and detailed technical drawings.
• Familiarity with drafting techniques, construction detail documentation, lighting design principles, color theory, and graphic design software is highly desirable.
• Experience managing contracts with vendors or contractors as well as overseeing renovation or remodeling projects in diverse settings is preferred.
