Vice President, Portfolio Management (Commercial and Industrial Upper Middle Market)

Location 127 Public Square, Cleveland Ohio Job Summary The Vice President, Portfolio Management is an individual contributor responsible for performing financial analysis and preparing underwriting documents to support multimillion‑dollar corporate credit requests. The role includes initial approval of new and complex credit exposures, ongoing credit monitoring, risk rating for a portfolio of corporate clients, and assistance with cross‑selling additional bank products. This position requires leadership in credit underwriting, collaboration with business partners, and a constructive approach to risk management while maintaining asset quality. Responsibilities Gather and analyze all relevant financial data for high‑value clients, including spreading financial statements and collaborating with third‑party vendors. Model future financial performance of clients and prospects, including downside scenarios. Structure transactions in partnership with bankers, relationship managers, and other portfolio managers. Perform leveraged cash‑flow due diligence when required. Prepare comprehensive credit underwriting documents that identify risks, mitigants, industry and market trends. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements such as KYC, Patriot Act, OFAC checks, and Beneficial Ownership certification. Manage the approval process for lending commitments, amendments, waivers, and consents, providing monitoring, reporting, and recommendations to Credit Executives. Review and maintain legal documentation—including credit agreements, guarantees, security pledges, and collateral—to ensure accuracy of approvals. Monitor portfolio accounts for covenant compliance, liquidity, earnings trends, and other key indicators to protect the bank’s position. Maintain data integrity in Key’s systems and ensure timely updates to risk ratings for all assets. Identify potential problem accounts and collaborate with the Asset Recovery Group to improve bank position. Develop and maintain direct client relationships, attend management presentations, bank meetings, and site visits. Contribute to white papers on assigned industry segments and provide guidance to analysts and associates. Qualifications Minimum 5 years of commercial underwriting, credit, banking, or financial services experience (required). Commercial and Industrial underwriting strongly preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Office and capable of learning additional technology applications. Strong financial analysis and modeling skills. Ability to create detailed and thorough underwriting packages that synthesize large amounts of information. Experience structuring appropriate covenants for syndicated debt facilities. Experience managing the left‑lead or administrative agent role in syndicated deals. Ability to lead client negotiations and act as the primary lending representative on deal execution. Knowledge of the legal elements of credit agreements and the ability to negotiate terms with counsel. Deep understanding of banking and investment banking products, market dynamics, trends, and terms. Excellent presentation, communication, and influencing skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively. Strong organization, time‑management, and independent work capabilities. Preference for candidates located near a KeyBank facility; remote options considered if not near a KeyBank location. Compensation & Benefits Base salary range: $96,000.00 – $181,000.00 annually.
