Correctional Counselor

Job ResponsibilitiesUnder limited supervision from the Warden, Chief of Inmate Grievance Branch, and central office inmate grievance administrators, performs a wide variety of administrative duties for the Inmate Grievance Branch. Investigates grievances by conducting thorough and impartial inquiries of circumstances pertaining to grievances through interviews with inmates and staff. Analyzes specific information obtained and prepares recommendations designed to resolve problems at the lowest possible level. Reviews and researches SCDC policies, relevant/mandated statues, disciplinary tapes, and any documentation related to grievances. Interprets rules, regulations, policies, and procedures as they apply to day-to-day operations and to the grievance procedures, accepts and forwards appeals to the central office, serves inmates with step 1 and step 2 grievance decisions and performs other duties as assigned.
