We are looking for professionals who already understand how to diagnose mechanical problems, work safely with industrial tools, complete repairs, and take pride in the quality of their workmanship.Previous railroad experience is preferred but not required. Experienced industrial mechanics, diesel mechanics, heavy equipment mechanics, trailer mechanics, maintenance technicians, welders/fabricators, and other qualified mechanical professionals are encouraged to apply.If you have built your career working on equipment and are interested in bringing those skills into the railroad industry, this could be your next opportunity.Your ResponsibilitiesAs a Railcar Repair Mechanic, you will inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair rail equipment in accordance with applicable safety and repair requirements.Responsibilities include:Inspect railcars for mechanical defects, structural damage, wear, and fatigueDiagnose problems and determine appropriate repair proceduresRepair, adjust, remove, and replace mechanical and structural componentsPerform authorized repairs according to customer and applicable AAR requirementsComplete welding, cutting, grinding, fitting, and metal fabricationOperate MIG and stick welding equipment when qualifiedSafely use cutting torches and other industrial repair equipmentOperate grinders, impact tools, pneumatic tools, sockets, ratchets, pipe wrenches, and related equipmentInspect completed work for quality and proper operationMaintain accountability for assigned tools and equipmentKeep repair areas organized and free of safety hazardsFollow all company, customer, and industry safety proceduresRequired Experience & QualificationsCandidates must have previous professional mechanical, welding, fabrication, or industrial maintenance experience.Successful candidates should demonstrate:Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilityProfessional experience completing mechanical repairsExperience safely operating hand, power, and pneumatic toolsWelding and/or metal fabrication experienceAbility to read and follow repair procedures and safety instructionsDependable attendance and professional work habitsCommitment to completing repairs correctly and safelyAbility to work independently and as part of a skilled maintenance teamPhysical & Work EnvironmentThis is an active industrial rail repair position performed primarily outdoors. Employees work around railcars, heavy equipment, tools, and active operations in heat, cold, rain, dust, and varying weather conditions.The position requires standing, walking, bending, squatting, twisting, climbing, and working from ladders exceeding 16 feet.
