About the Role

The Company is in need of an Interim CFO to lead a significant financial transformation. The successful candidate will be instrumental in shifting the organization's revenue model from a primarily grant-funded approach to a more diversified one, including consulting services, SaaS solutions, donations, and endowment income. This hands-on role requires a leader with a strong background in federal grants and nonprofit financial management, who can provide strategic insights and operational support. Key responsibilities for the Interim CFO include leading all accounting and financial operations, overseeing federal grant accounting and compliance, developing financial models and projections, and providing real-time financial insights to the leadership and Finance Committee. The role also involves managing a finance and accounting team, evaluating and improving current systems and processes, and partnering closely with the CEO and Finance Committee on financial strategy and organizational growth. The ideal candidate for the Interim CFO position at the company will have an active CPA, with an MBA and/or a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance strongly preferred. Significant experience in federal grants and nonprofit accounting is essential, as is an understanding of SaaS business models, consulting revenue, pricing, and revenue recognition. The role demands a professional with a proven track record in building forecasting models, financial projections, and measurable KPIs, as well as experience in managing audits, compliance, internal controls, and cross-functional operations. The Interim CFO should be prepared to work Eastern Time hours and be available for an immediate start, with the potential for a temp-to-permanent opportunity based on performance.
