Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: MedSurg/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience License: RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience BLS certification ACLS certification NIHSS certification Description: The facility is licensed for 457 beds. It is a Level 3 Trauma center. It is a Stroke Center of Excellence. It is a Bariatric Center of Excellence. It is a Chest Pain Center. The average patient census is 51 patients per day. Patient types include those with chronic diseases, CHF specialty, mental health issues, and addiction services. Patients may require 6 weeks of IV antibiotics. Common diagnoses include COPD, diabetes, wounds, and geriatric care. The RN to patient ratio is 1:4-6, and may increase to 1:7-8 during surge times. CNA to patient ratio is 1:7. Required skills include general Med/Tele skill set, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and experience with non-titrating cardiac drips such as Cardizem and Amiodarone. Candidates should be capable of caring for patients with tubes and drains, IV start skills, blood products, and wound care. Support within the department includes a nurse manager, administrative clinical supervisor, clinical supervisor, staff RNs, CNAs, clinical mentor, rapid response RN, and house supervisor. Technology used includes an EMR system as well as specific departmental equipment such as scales, GBS machines, transfer devices, and EKG machines. Travel nurses will be the first to float to other nursing units and should demonstrate adaptability when floating to different units. Floating may occur within defined scope of practice. Travel nurses will work on a weekend rotation of every other weekend. They will be expected to work 75% of holidays. Requests for time off can be approved for up to 6 days, excluding holidays, and should be added to the end of the contract if days are not met. Shift times are from 0700 to 1900 and 1900 to 0700.
