Manufacturing Manager, Training Systems

Manufacturing Manager (Training Systems, The Boeing Company). Location: Hazelwood, MO. This role leads a team of highly skilled touch‑labor personnel in assembling and delivering world‑class training systems for military customers. The manager works with multiple stakeholders and customers across the defense and services business to meet safety, quality, cost and delivery targets while driving lean process improvements and developing team members. Responsibilities Day‑to‑day leadership of multi‑disciplined union technicians supporting flight simulator manufacturing and delivery across multiple manufacturing disciplines. Provide regular safety, quality, cost and delivery status updates and change information to program managers, customers and manufacturing functional leadership. Work with stakeholders to determine priorities and assess capacity for proposal development. Develop and execute integrated organizational plans, policies and procedures; provide oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes. Acquire resources for organizational activities and lead process improvements. Develop and maintain relationships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports. Manage, develop and motivate employees. Identify and manage manufacturing‑related risks, issues and opportunities. Qualifications – Basic 3+ years in a manufacturing or manufacturing support environment. Minimum 1 year in a leadership role (team leader, temporary manager, large‑scale cross‑functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) or completion of Boeing’s internal “Exploring Leadership” course. 1+ year experience in LEAN manufacturing and performance metrics. 3+ years experience with sheet metal, composite, machining, woodworking fabrication, assembly methods and common shop practices. Preferred Qualifications – Advanced Bachelor’s degree or higher in business or a technical field. Project management experience: baseline establishment, earned value metrics, scheduling, configuration management, risk and opportunity assessment and affordability management. 3+ years working with or supporting a Lean Management System such as OneBPS. Experience training aircraft systems, components and related equipment with international personnel. Experience with schedule and budget management, integration of logistics elements, and customer communication. Experience supporting internal and external customers across multiple disciplines. 1+ year experience with the GOLD inventory system. The position is 100% onsite (Hazelwood, MO) and for 1st shift. Security Clearance Must obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret clearance (interim or final) and be U.S. citizenship.
