Lab Technician II

Trane Technologies, a world leader in creating sustainable and efficient climate solutions for buildings, homes and transportation, invites you to join us as an HVAC Product Development Technician II in our Engineering Test Laboratory. This on‑site role focuses on testing new product development (NPD), sustainability, quality improvement projects, and agency compliance to support Trane Applied Compression and Commercial HVAC products. Responsibilities Work safely and maintain a safe work environment in accordance with company policies and procedures. Support product development by operating commercial HVAC equipment, controlling test facilities, and collecting experimental test data. Lead or assist with the installation, modification, and build of developmental commercial HVAC equipment and components, following engineering, agency, and test requirements. Collaborate with Test Engineering and other Technicians to install and use laboratory test equipment, including data acquisition systems, power analyzers, flow equipment, pressure, and temperature measurement devices. Troubleshoot and repair Trane commercial HVAC technologies and equipment. Qualifications Associate’s Degree in HVAC (or equivalent 2‑year degree program at an accredited school) and at least 5 years of related work experience OR 1‑year certificate/diploma with a minimum of 7 years relevant experience. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook). EPA Type Universal Certification or willingness to become certified. Strong grasp of refrigeration thermodynamics and mechanical troubleshooting. Advanced knowledge of measuring/inspection instruments and mechanical/electrical components. Proficient with schematics, engineering drawings, technical reports, safety rules, and operation/maintenance instructions. Ability to follow current work instructions and applicable test standards. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Capable of multitasking in a fast‑paced team environment. Compensation Annual Base Salary Range: $52,630.00 – $74,340.00 (Hourly Base Pay Range: $25.30 – $35.75). Compensation is based on seniority, merit, geographic location, education, experience, travel requirements, and union designation.
