SCHEDULE: Must be able to work the entire schedule of 2PM-10PM Monday through Friday. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Please note that this list is ILLUSTRATIVE only and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and duties performed by an incumbent in this role. Duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following: Assist press operators with setup, operation, and make-readies for printing presses, including plate mounting, ink adjustments, and quality checks Prepare and stage printing materials such as inks, coatings, substrates, and job bags with all required information (samples, proofs, color standards) Move completed loads to the cutting department staging area Monitor press operations for consistency and report deviations; record production data as needed Maintain and clean printing equipment, including presses, floors, and catwalks; perform basic maintenance and keep the pressroom organized Manage and replenish pressroom supplies, including chemicals, fountain solution, and coating overflow containers; remove old drums and maintain MSDS labels Operate the aerator to prep loads and use forklift as needed to retrieve printing supplies from storage Support press crews by filling in during absences or staffing shortages and completing tasks assigned by the lead Pressman Communicate with other departments to coordinate workflow and material needs and recycling processes. Perform all work in accordance with company policies, procedures, practices, values, and standards of conduct. Requirements PHYSICAL DEMANDS Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing to communicate effectively, and discern warning or emergency alarms, including forklift horns. Sufficient vision, with or without accommodation to review and read documents, reports, and other job-related information, and observe signage in the plant Sufficient manual dexterity, with or without reasonable accommodation to perform repetitive motions in fingering and hand/wrist/arm movements. Ability to frequently push/pull up to 100 lbs.; occasionally lift and carry up to 50 lbs. from floor to shoulder. Ability to stand stationary for up to 2 hours continuously and up to 3 hours cumulatively. Ability to walk for up to 5.25 cumulative hours during shift duration. Sufficient body flexibility and balance which require repeated bending, stooping, and kneeling motions. Ability to bend and twist at the head, neck and waist. Ability to occasionally climbs stairs. Sufficient attention to concentrate and complete tasks. WORKING CONDITIONS Typical working conditions are exposed to moderate noise but at times may be exposed to loud and excessive noise Production areas of the facility may include variations in temperature, humidity, odor, dust, fumes, and debris. Operation of hand tools, pallet jacks, forklifts, and other support equipment may be used. QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE OF: Printing press operations and related machinery used in the production of box cartons. Materials handling procedures, including safe handling of inks, coatings, printing plates, and corrugated stock. Production workflows and quality control standards in a high-volume manufacturing environment. Preventive maintenance practices and basic mechanical knowledge for identifying and reporting equipment malfunctions. Standard operating procedures (SOPs) and documentation requirements for pressroom activities. Color matching to assist with achieving accurate print quality under supervision. Team communication protocols, including effectively relaying issues or updates to press operators and supervisors. SKILL AND ABILITY TO: Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operational procedures and instructions, and policies. Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Safely operate pallet jacks and Automatan aerator machines. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Verbally communicate to clearly convey information and feedback to team members and supervisors Address concerns promptly to ensure smooth workflow and collaboration Demonstrate a cooperative and positive attitude when working with colleagues Approach interpersonal challenges with professionalism and a solution-oriented mindset Perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent preferred At least one (1) year of experience in printing OR an equivalent combination knowledge, skills, education or work-related experience. SUMMARY The primary purpose of the Pressroom Assistant is to support the printing process by preparing and maintaining printing presses to ensure accurate, high-quality print production. This role involves assisting with setup, monitoring press operations, troubleshooting minor issues, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment to help meet production deadlines and quality standards.
