This on-site travel nursing contract is ideal for an RN skilled in cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and medically complex patient care in a fast-paced progressive care unit (PCU). Travel Nursing Job Details

• Specialty: Cardiac Stepdown / Progressive Care / PCU
• Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
• Location: On-site in Maryville, Tennessee
• Start Date: November 16, 2026
• Assignment End Date: February 15, 2027
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,750–$1,840
• Schedule: 36 hours per week; three 12-hour day shifts
• Shift Hours: 6:45 a.m. – 7:15 p.m.
• Weekend Requirement: One weekend shift every two weeks
• Unit: Adult progressive care unit with approximately 24 beds and a daily census of about 15 patients
• Typical Patient Ratio: 3 patients per nurse
• Charting: Epic electronic medical record (EMR)
• Orientation: Approximately 72 hours

Cardiac Stepdown Travel RN Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Tennessee
• At least 2 years of recent cardiac stepdown, progressive care, PCU, or closely related nursing experience
• Prior travel nursing experience; first-time travelers are not eligible for this assignment
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• At least 1 year of recent Epic experience
• Demonstrated experience caring for adult patients requiring cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and progressive care interventions
• Strong assessment, communication, organization, and critical-thinking skills
• Ability to float to other qualified units or campuses when needed and perform only validated competencies

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult cardiac stepdown, telemetry, and progressive care patients
• Monitor cardiac rhythms, recognize dysrhythmias, and promptly communicate changes in patient condition
• Manage telemetry, arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes, drains, oxygen therapies, and non-invasive airway support as appropriate
• Administer and monitor cardiac medications, anticoagulants, blood products, insulin protocols, and other prescribed therapies
• Care for patients before and after cardiac catheterization, cardiac surgery, angiography, myocardial infarction, and related procedures
• Interpret vital signs, laboratory results, and arterial blood gases to support timely clinical interventions
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, rehabilitation, social services, and rapid response teams
• Document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and care plans accurately in Epic
• Educate patients and families while promoting safety, comfort, and continuity of care
