Mental Health Tech (PCS): TEMP ASSIGNMENT (PREMIUM PAY) - Day Shift

Responsibilities NOTE - Individuals employed by any UHS facility within the previous six (6) months are not eligible to apply for this position. HAVENWYCK HOSPITAL (a UHS facility) Havenwyck Hospital is a Joint Commission-accredited and licensed psychiatric hospital, overlooking Lake Galloway in Auburn Hills, Michigan. We specialize in providing comprehensive, compassionate behavioral health services to children, adolescents and adults. POSITION SUMMARY:

The Mental Health Technician performs routine patient care duties under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. This includes: assisting with patient admissions, discharges and transfers; monitoring patients to identify verbal and non-verbal cues for potential aggressive behaviors and using the necessary intervention to de-escalate the patient appropriately. Reports alterations in sensory perceptual images, recognizing the differences between illustrations, delusions and hallucinations. Monitors safety issues regarding these patients and takes action, when indicated, to prevent patient harm. Communicates these issues to the Registered Nurse. Will also assist patients with activities of daily living and encourage independent behavior with appropriate interventions on a daily basis while providing care to patients in a manner that considers safety, patients’ rights, comfort and a therapeutic environment. HOURS/SCHEDULE: This is a TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENT (Option 1) not to exceed 6 months. Must work 3 - 12-hour shifts per week, 7:00AM-7:30PM and every other weekend to include holidays.

Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required. Must have a minimum of three years of current experience as a MHT/PCS in a behavioral health hospital. Experience in dealing with the emotionally disturbed preferred. Employees must be in good standing (employment/corrective action history, evaluation, etc.) to be considered for internal transfers.
