Speech-Language Pathologist

Position Title: Speech-Language Pathologist Summary: The Speech-Language Pathologist provides speech/language evaluation, therapy and consultation services to assigned schools. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Conducts individual speech-language screenings. Assesses educational and speech-language needs of individuals and groups of children. Conducts individual speech-language evaluations. Prepares reports, interprets results and recommends educational adjustments. Participates in the development of prescriptive educational and speech-language management programs, including augmentative communication and feeding programs. Consults with teachers, other school personnel, parents and community agencies regarding speech-language related learning problems. Consults with medical, social, psychiatric and other support service personnel. Assist with IEP teams in planning educational program for children. Conducts in-service programs pertinent to the speech-language areas. Other appropriate duties as required by the Director of Special Services or designee. Supervisory Responsibilities: None Qualification Requirements: Master’s degree from an accredited institution. Rhode Island Department of Education certification, Speech and Language Pathologist. Ability to work cooperatively with diagnostic teams, students, parents, teachers, school administrators and community agencies. The Speech-language Pathologist: While performing the duties of this job, may be required to sit, walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk and hear. May be required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms and use hands to finger, handle or feel and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and depth perception. Work Environment Performing the duties of this job, the Speech-Language Pathologist must be able to meet multiple demands from several people. The Speech-Language Pathologist will be expected to use his/her car to travel to schools/meetings. Reimbursement for mileage will be made. The Speech-Language Pathologist is based in one or more schools. Position in the Total Organization The Speech-Language Pathologist is responsible to the building administrator and Coordinator of Speech-Language Hearing Services. Work Year The Speech-Language Pathologist's work year is defined in the Master Agreement between the Cranston School Committee and the Cranston Teachers Alliance Contract. Salary and Benefits The salary range for Speech-Language Pathologists will be as stated in the Master Agreement between the Cranston School Committee and the Cranston Teachers Alliance.
