Staff Nurse - Main Operating Room, Cardiothoracic Team 1 (WEO)

Staff NurseUniversity of Iowa Health Care Department of Nursing is seeking Staff Nurses in the Main Operating Room, Team 1 to perform specific tasks to assist members of the Nursing team in providing patient care under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager.Our Cardiothoracic Surgery department provides a full spectrum of procedures, including open-heart surgery, heart and lung transplants, as well as minimally invasive and robotic-assisted techniques. The Main Operating Room includes 30 operating rooms serving adult surgical specialties open 24/7. Intra-operative services are divided into five teams staffed by RNs and Surgical Technologists.Characteristic duties of our staff nurses include but are not limited to:Applies nursing theory to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient responses to health and illnessAssesses patient health care preferences and expectationsCollaboratively coordinates the continuum of care across settingsDevelops patient care plan based on patient condition, age, and psychological, educational, and socioeconomic conditions that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomesImplements patient care plan according to patient priorities, which includes interventions identified through nursing diagnoses, documents/reports, interventions and patient/family responseCollaborates and integrates contributions of patients and families into multidisciplinary patient care planDevelops, coordinates and implements transfer/discharge planning throughout episode of careImplements nursing interventions according to department, division, and/or unit policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain safe environment for patients, visitors and staffFollows universal precautionPercent of Time: 60%Schedule: Sat/Sun 1100-2330Location: University CampusSalary: $61,183 (at 100% effort) to commensurate *this does not include inpatient or shift differentialPay Differentials: Shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts. Changing Lives. ®Required Qualifications:An Associate's Degree in Nursing, a Diploma in Nursing, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP) MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader or a Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA) is requiredExcellent written and verbal communication skills are requiredDemonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members as demonstrated through written and verbal interactionsGeneral computer skills are requiredCurrent license to practice nursing in Iowa is required by date of hireDesired Qualifications:Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or Masters Degree in Nursing is highly desiredIf Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is not yet obtained, active enrollment in a BSN program is desirableKnowledge of university policies and procedures is desiredPlease attach a resume as part of the application process.
