POSITION SUMMARY
Serves as a specialist for students who are learning English as a second language and/or developing the necessary academic English to be successful in core content classes. The EL teacher works in a program designed to provide direct English Language Development instruction in the classroom, small groups and/or individual student settings. In addition to this specific individualized instruction, the EL teacher will assist general education classroom teachers with selection of appropriate curricula and the development of appropriate strategies to meet the unique needs of English Learners. The EL teacher creates a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and reach their full academic potential.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE (Minimum Qualifications)
~ Bachelor's Degree.
~ Valid TSPC ESOL endorsement, or ability to obtain prior to position start date.
~ Have standards of moral character as required of all Oregon licensed educators (OAR 584-005-0005).
~ Bilingual English/Spanish
~ Ability to communicate fluently verbally and in writing in English

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
~ Masters of Arts in Teaching.
~ 3 years of experience teaching English Language in a public school setting.

COMPENSATION
~ Salary: $40,652 - $79,799 (Precise 2021-2022 Salary Schedule TBD)

~ JCSD 509-J pays the employee's share (6%) of the Public Employees Retirement System Contribution
