Position Summary

The Bilingual Community Care & Volunteer Coordinator provides direct, culturally responsive social work services, primarily safety-net support, to individuals and families while coordinating and supporting volunteers who extend community care. This role serves as a bridge between community members, volunteers, and organizational systems, ensuring accessible services, strong volunteer engagement, and compassionate follow-through.

Key Responsibilities

1. Direct Social Work & Safety-Net Support

• Provide community-based, non-clinical social work support to Wellspring guests.
  • Support the daily operations of Wellspring's morning respite program.
  • Welcome guests and help create an inclusive and hospitable environment where all individuals are treated with dignity and love.
  • Offer a compassionate, affirming presence grounded in a humanistic, strengths-based, and trauma-informed lens of care.
  • Build trusting relationships that foster dignity, belonging, connection, and access to support.
  • Conduct engagement conversations and needs assessments.
  • Support community-based activities and celebrations.
  • Approach conflict as a natural part of community life and an opportunity to deepen connection, understanding, and collective well-being
  • Help maintain a welcoming physical environment that promotes beauty, belonging, and well-being
• Assist with the processing, organization, and provision of safety-net resources, including:
  • Diapers and baby supplies
  • Hygiene products
  • Survival and Dignity Supplies
• Deliver services in Spanish and English, ensuring linguistic and cultural accessibility.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with organizational policies and confidentiality standards.
• Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and community partners to ensure coordinated and responsive support.

2. Volunteer Coordination & Support

• Recruit new volunteers as needed for daily operation of the Center
  • Announce volunteer opportunities on websites
  • Act as community liaison regarding volunteers
  • Schedule, engage and orientate volunteer groups
• Assist orientation of for new volunteers
• Coordinate service learning students from CSUS, including necessary documentation etc.
• Communicate with and support volunteer needs, including monthly newsletter
• Plan and facilitate volunteer meetings as appropriate
• Coordinate Volunteer Appreciation Event and other appreciation activities
• Serve as a point of contact for volunteers, offering guidance and support
• Match volunteers to community needs in alignment with skills and boundaries
• Track volunteer data
• Monitor volunteer absences and arrange for substitute volunteers when needed.

3. Community Engagement & Collaboration

• Build trusted relationships with community members and partner organizations
• Support outreach efforts, workshops, or community events (as needed)
• Act as a cultural and linguistic bridge between staff, volunteers, and community
• Share feedback and emerging needs with leadership to improve services

4. Administrative & Team Collaboration

• Participate in team meetings, supervision, and training
• Support data collection and reporting related to services and volunteers
• Follow ethical guidelines, organizational policies, and safety protocols
• Contribute to a collaborative, trauma-informed, and equity-centered team culture

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work (BSW) or closely related field
• Fluency in Spanish and English (spoken and written)
• Experience providing safety-net or community-based social services
• Experience working with volunteers or community members in a support role
• Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills
• Ability to work with diverse communities with cultural humility
• May include occasional evening or weekend hours for community needs
• Works closely with program staff, volunteers, and leadership

Physical Requirements

• Ability to spend extended periods of time standing, walking, and moving throughout the workday.
• Ability to lift, carry, move, and distribute supplies and materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Wellspring is located in a historic two-story building. This position requires the ability to regularly navigate stairs throughout the course of work, as elevator access is not available.
• Ability to work in a variety of settings, including office spaces, community gathering areas, storage areas, and outdoor environments during outreach or special events.
• Ability to respond appropriately to the physical demands of a dynamic community-centered environment.
