Nursing Assistant Position

This position is responsible for performing nursing care and treatments for geriatric patients. He/she will assist patients with activities of daily living. They will monitor patients and report changes to the charge nurse or supervisor as needed. The work will be performed with some latitude for the exercise of independent judgement and initiative within the scope of practice for the Certified Nursing Assistant.

Located conveniently in Augusta's downtown medical community, Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home provides continuous professional nursing care to veterans of Georgia who have served in the armed forces during war times. The home is owned and funded by the Georgia Department of Veterans Service and operated through an interagency agreement with Augusta University. Through this association, Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home is considered a leader in the area of geriatric educational training for Augusta University.

High school diploma, or GED from a recognized State or Federal accrediting organization. Certified as a Nursing Assistant in the state of Georgia. Certification as a Nursing Assistant in Georgia and American Heart Association CPR with BLS.

Previous experience as a Nursing Assistant. Experience in care of the physically ill, preferably in a geriatric or long-term care setting.

Knowledgeable of providing customer service at a level above average. Perform range of motion and ambulate residents as indicated per plan of care. Document all care and treatments provided as indicated. Basic knowledge of human anatomy Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills Detailed-oriented with strong organizational, customer service and multi-taking skills Strong nursing assistant skills Ability to perform vital signs and recognize what is with normal range. Ability to perform simple treatments, assess pain, obtain weight, and assist with ADLs as needed. Assist residents with transfers using mechanical lifts when indicated. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to perform basic tests including vital signs and weights.

Must possess a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS/BCLS certification and Georgia Nursing Assistant Certification.

Shift: Rotating Pay Band: B3 Salary: Minimum:$16.54/hour - Midpoint $17.96/hour Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position Recruitment Period: Until Filled Augusta University offers a variety of benefits to full-time benefits-eligible employees and some of our half-time (or more) employees. If applicable for the specific position based on the duties: the candidate will also need to have a credit check completed for Positions of Trust and or approved departmental Purchase Card usage. Motor vehicle reports are required for positions that are required to drive an Augusta University vehicle. For Faculty Hires: Final candidates will be required to provide proof of completed academic degree(s) as well as post-secondary coursework in the form of original transcript(s). Those candidates trained by a foreign institution will also be required to provide an educational/credential evaluation.
