Installation Tech IV

The Installation Technician is responsible for structured cabling, installation of total integrated voice and data systems, networks, and wireless. This is meant to be a guide, duties may vary depending on management. Essential Position Functions Has technical proficiency of structured cabling, installation of total integrated voice and data systems, networks, and wireless. Completes additions, removals, changes, upgrades and maintenance to service contracts. Performs installations and maintenance of equipment. Executes engineering of new projects. Performs installation and maintenance of equipment installations, central office equipment including iron work, AC, transport equipment, and all infrastructures; occasionally performs outside plant installation. Manages inventory of assigned tools and ensures they are calibrated. Submits ECR or Red Line for changes that would alter work items, assignments, and specifications. Writes and presents a method of procedure for customer approval. Stages equipment and inventories material for accuracy. Assigns tasks to subordinates and monitors their work ethics for efficiency, quality, and safety. Ensures accuracy in all equipment installations. Tests wiring for completeness and correctness. Coordinates power cuts with customers within the maintenance window. Ensures accuracy and timeliness of all final paperwork. Ensures start and completion of each project results in a quality, on-time, profitable product. Completes quality assurance procedures and checks final products for errors. Ensures safety, quality, and efficiencies of the crew. Interfaces with customer contacts and end users. Coordinates with other vendors when required by the customer. Provides technical support for customer contacts and technicians upon request. Attends project planning and progress meetings with or without assigned customer contacts. Adheres to Environmental, Health & Safety policies of all Telecommunication standards. Other duties as required. Additional Expectations Construction work is project-driven and may vary in availability. When role-specific assignments are not available, employees may be required to perform related duties within the construction or telecommunications field, such as ground support, site preparation, equipment maintenance, warehouse support, or assisting with other company projects as assigned. Education and/or Experience High school diploma or GED required. Vocational/Technical Business School desired. Minimum of 6 years telecommunication training and/or experience. Demonstrated proficiency and profitability at Technician III level. Exceptional ability in telephony outside general parameters of installation and technical expertise. Ability to think critically and problem‑solve. Capability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and good judgement. Mechanically inclined with strong mechanical aptitude. Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook). Proficiency with Windows‑based computer. Ability to prioritize and complete assignments accurately and timely. Capable of managing multiple priorities with strong attention to detail in a fast‑paced environment. Strong interpersonal, organizational, oral and written communication skills. Ability to work alone or with a team. Must pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Physical Demands Prolonged standing. Climbing stairs, ladders, and/or scaffolds. Carrying loads up and down stairs; reaching and/or grasping. Stooping, kneeling, walking, bending, crawling, and crouching. Carrying, pushing and/or pulling. Finger and wrist dexterity and hand/eye coordination. Heavy physical effort (lifting/moving up to 70 pounds). Effective communication with employees, management, peers, etc. Work Environment Exposure to noisy or dusty conditions. Exposure to chemicals and solvents. Exposure to mechanical, electrical, or other hazards. Must travel up to 50% (most travel planned well in advance). Position requires independent and team work.
