FAMILY SUPPORT SPECIALIST - WESTLAND, MICHIGAN

Do you have Family Support experience? This is a hands‑on, CONTINGENT AFTERNOON role that requires empathy and an understanding that this is an ever‑changing job. No two days will be the same. Tasks include housekeeping, kitchen duty, med passing, assisting residents with hygiene, preparing rooms for new residents, de‑escalating situations—all while showing compassion for families in transition for a variety of reasons. This role pays $19.00 per hour. Work hours are 3 p.m.–11:30 p.m. on weekends. You work every other Saturday & Sunday or every Saturday & Sunday—pick what fits your availability. Assists families with daily living in accordance with their individual case plan. Duties and Responsibilities Complete assignments to support resident service plans and center programs in accordance with center, division, and contract requirements. Document all relevant shift activity in the log book according to center policy. Review resident log daily and document resident activities. Assist in conducting telephone and walk‑in intakes for prospective residents and make referrals to community resources and services. Provide medications in accordance with resident’s medical chart; document in resident chart. Monitor residents’ behaviors; report incidents or violations orally and in writing to the Program Manager. Prepare and distribute meals for residents; maintain cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas on assigned shift, including dishwashing. Perform housekeeping duties in resident rooms, including cleaning, vacuuming, wiping, sanitizing, and preparing vacant rooms. Serve as a mentor to Family Support Workers and provide initial and ongoing training as required. Qualifications Education, Training, and Licensure/Certification Training or college courses in social work or human services preferred. Required to attain and maintain Food Handler’s Basic certification.
