As part of HDR’s Field Services team, you’ll be on the front lines of infrastructure development, ensuring that designs are built to the highest standards across highways, bridges, water treatment plants, transit systems, and power facilities. Responsibilities Represent a project owner throughout construction on various public and quasi‑public infrastructure projects. Manage in‑house and sub‑consultant contracts and staff, serving as the point person for construction contract oversight. Engage in business‑development activities with clients to assist with the growth of the Southern California Construction Management/Field Services program and marketing of HDR services. Supervise and direct field‑team activities, maintaining healthy relationships with clients and oversight organizations. Work on projects that may include rail grade projects, highway projects, marine projects, and buildings. Direct and coordinate the work of single or multi‑discipline teams throughout the project’s lifecycle from development to close‑out. Produce and coordinate several projects concurrently. Establish and maintain client relations, and participate in marketing, contractual, design, and production meetings. Conduct work sessions for deliverable development with staff and stakeholders. Track financial aspects of projects and adjust work effort to keep work within agreed‑to budget and schedule. Work with Accounting, Operations, and Business leadership for periodic project reviews. Implement QA/QC procedures. Support operations oversight of regional projects and staff, including managing utilization of staff, hiring, mentoring, and coaching. Review and recommend actions to maintain a positive financial outlook for the business class. Perform other duties as needed. Preferred Qualifications Professional Engineering License. Experience with Caltrans or LA Metro, either directly or as a consultant. Fundamental understanding of public and private contracts, codes, and laws governing construction. Willingness to commute to a client’s site. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, identifying discrepancies or conflicts. Scheduling software experience is a plus. Experience supervising direct reports and managing a team; supervisor training is a plus. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Planning, Sciences, Business Administration, or a closely related field. At least one of the following licenses or certifications: Professional Engineering License recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position (e.g., PE or P.Eng). PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. PMI Program Management Professional (PgMP) certification. AICP Certification. A minimum of six (6) years of program management experience, with at least four (4) years as a Program Manager or similar role. Experience leading as a Program Manager or serving in a similar role on the delivery of two or more programs, each with a capital value of $350 million or more. Experience delivering concurrent programs with a total value of $350 million or more qualifies as one of the required programs. Strong leadership skills with experience building a cohesive team culture and managing team members in various locations. Excellent communication skills; comfortable presenting to client executives and in front of a large audience in a public setting. Management experience with the implementation of projects or programs using alternative and collaborative delivery methods, including design‑build (DB), progressive design‑build (PDB), and/or construction management at‑risk (CMAR). Familiar with tools used to manage large programs – PMIS, CMIS, scheduling, cost control, document management, risk management, asset management, dashboard analytics, etc. Experience working in an integrated fashion within a Program Management Office (PMO) comprised of both consultant and client staff.
