Machinist

Position Summary St. Johns Shipbuilding is seeking an adept Machinist to join our dynamic team in Palatka, FL. The Machinist will be responsible for operating a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments, contributing to the construction and repair of various components for maritime vessels. Key Responsibilities Operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to fabricate metal parts. Interpret blueprints, schematics, and detailed drawings to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces. Set up and adjust machines according to specifications and maintain them for optimal operation. Measure, examine, and test completed units to check for defects and ensure alignment with specifications. Collaborate with engineering and other craft teams to resolve machining issues and improve processes. Required Education, Experience, & Skills Significant experience as a machinist in an industrial setting, with a strong understanding of machining operations and principles. Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical documents and precision measuring instruments. Skilled in the setup and operation of both CNC and conventional machine tools. Attention to detail and commitment to achieving high levels of accuracy and quality in all machined parts.
