Universal Heavy Equipment Operator - Floater

$1,500 Employee Referral Bonus Eligible Job Summary This position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of various types of heavy equipment in a crushed stone or sand and gravel quarry environment. The Multi-Skilled Equipment Operator will demonstrate proficiency in operating loaders, excavators, haul trucks, and other equipment as needed to support quarry operations and achieve production goals. Essential Functions Safely and efficiently operate a variety of equipment (front end loaders; excavators; haul trucks; dozers; graders) Maintain precise control of each piece of equipment, adapting to varying terrain and weather conditions. Perform pre-and post-trip inspections of all equipment operated, reporting any maintenance needs or safety concerns. Load and unload materials, including raw materials, finished products, and waste materials. Excavate and move earth, rock, and other materials as needed to support quarry operations. Maintain haul roads and work areas, ensuring safe and efficient traffic flow. Assist in various quarry tasks, such as stockpile management, plant feeding, and general site maintenance. Perform basic maintenance checks on all equipment operated. Collaborate with maintenance teams for repairs and preventive maintenance. Other duties as assigned. Critical Competencies Equipment Operation: Proficiency in operating large loaders with ability to accurately and smoothly maneuver and complete various tasks, such as loading, dumping, and transporting materials. Skill in handling attachments and understanding their applications. Safety Awareness: Ability to recognize, understand, and adhere to safety protocols and procedures in the workplace; proactive in identifying potential hazards, taking steps to mitigate risks, and ensuring that both personal and collective safety are maintained in all tasks and environments. Technical Expertise: Solid mechanical understanding of mobile equipment, including basic maintenance checks and troubleshooting minor issues. Ability to identify signs of equipment malfunction, understand and report them to the maintenance team. Problem Solving: Identify, analyze, and resolve work-related issues efficiently and effectively using practical knowledge, experience, and hands-on skills. Finds practical solutions, implements fixes, and adapts to unexpected challenges. Teamwork: Ability to effectively work as a part of a team, coordinating with other operators, dispatch/scale house and ground personnel.
