Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Director of Pharmacy experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
An opportunity is available for an Interim Director of Pharmacy and Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) position at a behavioral health treatment center in San Antonio, TX. This contract role begins on September 1, 2026, and will continue until a permanent hire is selected. The facility specializes in behavioral health with a 300+ licensed bed capacity and maintains an average daily census of 6-11 patients.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee pharmacy operations as the PIC, ensuring compliance with regulations and pharmacy standards
Manage pharmacy staffing and administrative duties
Utilize Order Entry System (HCS) with provided training
Implement and manage site automation with Omnicell systems (training provided)
Provide on-call coverage after each shift and throughout weekends
Collaborate with clinical staff to support behavioral health pharmaceutical needs
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
Current Texas pharmacist licensure (required)
Experience in hospital pharmacy settings and Omnicell automation preferred
Strong leadership and organizational skills to manage pharmacy staff effectively
Ability to work flexible hours during weekdays from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, plus on-call duties
Additional Information:
Pharmacy staff includes one full-time pharmacist and one per diem pharmacist
The site is in the process of regaining CMS accreditation and rebuilding pharmacy operations after recent changes
