The CFO will be responsible for the organization's financial strategy, including managing all fiscal and fiduciary affairs, budgeting, forecasting, and day-to-day operations of the accounting department. This role requires a collaborative leader who can work with the CEO and the Board of Directors to ensure the financial resources are aligned with the organization's mission and goals. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree, at least 5 years' of senior financial leadership experience in a nonprofit, and a CPA is preferred. They should have a deep understanding of accounting and GAAP principles, tax requirements for nonprofits, and extensive experience in financial management, internal controls, and organizational finance operations. Key responsibilities for the CFO include overseeing organizational budgeting, accounting, and cash management, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial records, and supporting the preparation of annual audits and tax returns. The role also involves real estate development and asset management, including working with various financial partners and government agencies. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker, possess strong interpersonal skills, and be adept at financial modeling and forecasting. They must be self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to lead a team effectively. Experience with federal, state, and private grants management, compliance, and audit processes is essential, as is a proven ability to manage complex financial operations and partner with senior leadership.
