Paramedic Position at Genesis Healthcare System

The purpose of this position is to respond to emergency situations and provide skilled emergency and non-emergency services in a variety of areas including emergency medical and rescue operations, advanced medical assistance, directing ambulance and first responders in patient care services, mentoring, training, quality improvement, public education, and recruitment. The incumbent would provide supervision and care of patients in the pre-hospital environment including the utilization of monitor/defibrillators, numerous medications, endotracheal intubation, IV therapy, and other associated tasks; perform critical basic and advanced life support procedures according to medical protocol; and perform independently in situations involving both basic and advanced life support activities.

Essential duties include directing subordinates, administering life support, safely operating emergency vehicles, attending classes, assisting in rescue operations, communicating with medical personnel, reporting incidents, maintaining confidentiality, performing maintenance duties, and adhering to safety protocols.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, successful completion of an accredited paramedic program, state certification, valid driver's license, and various certifications including BLS, ACLS, PALS, and ASLS. Additional qualifications for MICU Paramedics include two years of paramedic experience, adherence to state protocols, and participation in continuing education.

Working conditions require the ability to sit, stand, push, pull, bend, and walk for extended periods, lift and move various weights, and maintain vision abilities. Employees must be willing to work all shifts, extra hours, holidays, and emergency shifts as required.
