Physician Assistant

About the Role:

• Schedule: Full-time, Monday - Friday (9:00 - 5:00PM)

Requirements:

1. Master's degree or equivalent; more than 3 years related experience post training in primary care; Board certification in relevant specialty including primary care and family medicine.
2. Licensed as a Physician Assistant (PA-C).
3. Recertification of license in accordance with license requirements including keeping license and DEA certificate in good standing.
4. If stationed in the pediatric/youth unit, has experience working with children and young people aged 0-29 required.
5. If stationed in the pediatric unit, knowledgeable of Vaccine for Children standards, policies, and procedures required.
6. Active DATA 2000 wavier for the prescription of buprenorphine.
7. Must possess basic computer skills to perform job duties including desktop computing, electronic medical records, e-mail, time sheet management, reporting, internet research, etc. using relevant software such as HRIS and Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
8. Prior experience delivering services to adult persons with HIV, Hepatitis C, PrEP, and Gender Affirming Care, histories of incarnation, homelessness, mental illness, substance dependence, and trauma preferred.
9. Must possess CPR certification or be willing to be certified within 60 days of employment.
10. Discretion, initiative, and ability to maintain HIPAA compliance.
11. Due to a high volume of Spanish speaking patients, bilingual candidates (Spanish/English) are strongly preferred.
12. Must be able to exercise good judgment and identify when to escalate issues as appropriate.
13. Knowledge of de-escalation methods or willingness to be trained in these methods.
14. Ability to handle stressful situations while providing exceptional customer service.
15. Must be able to demonstrate judgment, patience, integrity, organization, and prioritization in a multi-task environment.
16. Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices such as OSHA, HIPAA, HRSA, CLIA and funding body regulations.
17. Strong skillsets in interpersonal relationships and teamwork, attention to detail, dependability, customer service, time management, autonomy and problem solving.
18. Ability to remain solution-focused and respectful in all interactions with staff, co-workers, vendors, and patients.

Responsibilities:

1. Provides comprehensive primary care for acute and chronic care visits; obtains medical history, performs physical examinations, diagnoses medical conditions, implements treatment plans (prescribing appropriate medications, etc.) and preventative care plans (immunizations, etc.).
2. Collaborates with non-medical support staff, such as resource navigators, behavioral health consultants, social workers, and other onsite ancillary staff to ensure outstanding patient care.
3. Orders and interprets laboratory results; reviews labs/records with patients and recommends treatment based on guidelines and medication management/dosing.
4. Screens patients for infection with one or more opportunistic pathogens and provide preventive therapy or therapy for active disease, when appropriate.
5. Screens for sexually transmitted diseases, vaginal infection, and cervical diseases; when applicable, manages HCV/HIV treatment monitoring.
6. Accurately documents all activities related to patient care appropriately in the Electronic Medical Records/appropriate databases in compliance with contracted funding sources and the established timeframe set forth by FIGHT policy.
7. Addresses risk events at the health center level to improve patient, staff, and organizational staff and promotes and ensures a culture of safety.
8. Participates in weekly case conference meetings, ongoing peer reviews and other oversight protocols as necessary in compliance with FIGHT/regulatory guidelines and established federal, state and local law.
9. Assists in additional chronic care management clinics (i.e., diabetes management clinic).
10. Provides coverage for other medical providers in their absence.
11. Participates as a sub-investigator in all clinical trials conducted in accordance with GCP standards.
12. On a rotating basis, provides on-call services to FIGHT's 24-hour emergency line.
13. Upholds and ensures compliance and attention to all FIGHT policies and procedures as well as the overall mission and values of the organization.
14. Other duties as assigned to fulfill FIGHT's mission.
