Tax Accountant

Flagg & Company CPAs is an established public accounting firm in West Des Moines, Iowa. We provide individual and business tax preparation, small-business accounting, and consulting services. We are seeking dedicated, self-motivated Tax Accountants to join our growing team. This is a full-time, in-office position with opportunities for professional growth, performance-based compensation, and a potential path to partnership for the right candidate. Compensation The salary range for this position is $65,000–$100,000 , based on education, experience, skills, and professional knowledge. Eligible employees may also earn an annual production-based bonus. Job Duties Work directly with clients to address tax and accounting needs, including income tax, payroll, sales tax, bank reconciliations, journal entries, general ledger review, and financial statement preparation Prepare accurate, well-organized workpapers that support tax returns, accounting work, and financial reporting Respond to routine client questions and provide timely, professional service Research and resolve tax and accounting issues Assist management with engagement planning, workflow coordination, and project management Develop and maintain strong, trusted client relationships Stay current with tax, accounting, and professional standards through continuing education Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience At least two years of tax and accounting experience in a public accounting firm preferred Working knowledge of federal and state tax rules, GAAP, payroll requirements, and sales-tax rules Experience with QuickBooks or Sage 50, Microsoft Office Suite, and income-tax preparation software Strong written and verbal communication skills Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities High attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality Ability to prioritize multiple engagements, manage deadlines, and keep management informed of progress Commitment to producing high-quality work and reviewing your own work for accuracy Professional, collaborative approach with clients and team members Flexibility and a willingness to learn and grow Benefits Paid professional development and continuing education Paid time off Flexible work hours Retirement plan Health, dental, vision, long-term disability, and life insurance On-site fitness center Annual production-based bonus opportunity Potential path to partnership Flagg & Company CPAs is an equal opportunity employer.
