Manager, Post Award Administration

$8,666.67 to $10,223.86 per month depending on qualifications (non‑negotiable). Hybrid in‑office/remote schedule; applicants must live within commutable distance from San Diego State University. What Our Department Does The Sponsored Research Administration (SRA) department supports faculty with the administration, compliance, and financial management of grants and contracts from federal, state, local, and private sources. We also administer gift funds, campus and community programs, and other research support funds. YOUR ROLE IN CREATING THE UNIVERSITY’S PRESENT AND FUTURE The Manager leads a team that supports faculty research activities, ensuring compliance with funding agency and university requirements to advance SDSU’s research mission.

THE WORK YOU WILL DO AND MANAGE

As a member of the SRA leadership team, you will guide a professional group aligned with SDSUF’s mission, overseeing grants, contracts, campus and community programs, gift funds, and other research support funds to free faculty to focus on research. The Skills We Need Effective supervisor: provides guidance, clear direction, performance feedback, and coaching. Broad knowledge of federal regulations, sponsor terms, and institutional policies with independent judgment. Advanced planning and innovation to solve complex issues and improve processes. Strong system and accounting skills for analysis, research, reporting, and special projects. Ability to build partnerships with faculty and project staff that enhance communication and relationships. Experience And Education Bachelor’s degree (Business Administration, Accounting, or related) or 4 years of progressive responsibility in higher education, research, or nonprofit accounting. Five years in research administration and at least two years supervising staff. Preferred Qualifications Advanced experience in a post‑award office. Strong knowledge of government accounting principles, sponsor reporting requirements, audit policies, 2 CFR 200, and FAR. Experience with Ellucian Banner Finance.
