Maintenance Technician Iis theintroductory-level maintenance position that assists with the upkeep of electrical and mechanical equipment in our fast-paced food-processingenvironment.

Responsibilities and tasks are written as follows:

• Ensures the safe operation of equipment and machinery, safe use of tools,and safety of others working in the immediate area.

• Assists withtroubleshooting and repairofelectrical systems, electrical controls, electric motors, pumps, gearboxes, blowers/fans.

• Resolves equipment malfunctions by evaluating performance breakdowns, identifying root cause, safely repairing the equipment, and taking actions to prevent recurring failures.

• Responsibilities includeassisting withinstalling,troubleshooting, and maintaining mechanical equipment, piping systems,andelectrical controls/components in accordance withthemanufacturer'sspecifications, local regulations,and Smithfieldsafety policies.

• Performsvisual and basicpreventive and predictive maintenance schedules on mechanical equipment such as pumps,Wrap Machines, Dock Doors, Dock Locks,andDock Levelers, used ina warehouseenvironment.

• Coordinates with supervisor regarding allshort-termrepairs andlong-termrepairs to minimize production downtime.

• Receives work order/request, reviews to determine tools, equipment, time, manpower, parts, and supplies needed.

• When responding to crisis calls will always arrive at the scene withthebasic tools and equipment necessary to perform work.

• Ensureall assigned work and preventative maintenance tasks are completed in a timely manner.

• Followall work instructions anddocumentall appropriate records to meet requirements set forth by OSHA, EPA, USDA,andWarehousemanagement.

• All other duties asassigned.

• Working knowledge of AC/DC electrical systems as they pertain to the preventative maintenance, troubleshooting,and repairis preferred.

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 1+ years of related experience and/or training in an industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing environment; or 4 years'directexperience in an industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturingmaintenanceenvironment.

• Vocational Diploma, Technical Diploma,orassociate's degreefrom a technical maintenance or vocational school, a plus.

• Possess the ability to function effectively in a team environment and interact productively with all levels of team personnel and outside contractors.

• Ability to operate a forklift, genie lift,or scissor lift.

• Can understand and follow oral and written instructions.

• Ability to readandwrite the following:work orders, instructions, daily reports,and machine manuals.

• Ability to receive and relate orders/information using various communication devices.

• Basic computer skills and the ability to work independently are also required for this position.

• TheWarehouseenvironment will include wet or humid conditions (non-weather related), extreme cold and heat (non-weather related), working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals.

• Noise level in the work environment is usuallymoderatebutcan be loud when in the production area.

• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds

• Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds utilizing the buddy system or specifically designed lifting devices

• Specific vision includes close vision, distance vision, andtheability to adjust focus.

• Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands tohandle orfeel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl,and talk or hear.
