About the Job

Our Class A Drivers are responsible for the safe and efficient delivery and pick up of material at customer yards, Metalico yards, and Mill sites.

Qualifications:

• Current Driver's License/Medical Card required.
• Class A license required.
• Three sided car hauler experience required.
• Roll Off experience is preferred.
• Tractor Trailer- Frameless Dump Trailer experience preferred.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Drives trucks in a safe manner at all times.
• Responsible for monitoring road and traffic conditions at all times to prevent accidents.
• Conducts pre-trip and post-trip inspections on every truck driven daily.
• Completes required paperwork accurately and turns paperwork daily at the end of each workday.
• Responsible for appropriately distributing and tying down all loads to ensure safety, using tarps as required.
• Picks up and delivers containers at customer sites on a timely and efficient basis.
• Monitors mechanical functions of the truck.
• Knows materials and what they are allowed to haul and what not to haul (hazardous materials).
• This position makes safety a top priority and looks for opportunities to improve safety, follows all safety rules, and wears appropriate PPE at all times.
• Communicates to the manager immediately any accidents that may have happened with or without damage or any damage done at a customer's facility.

• Unload and load products on trailers.
• Lift products and other objects of various shapes, sizes, and weights (up to 50 lbs. frequently and greater than 75 lbs. occasionally).
• Operate a tractor-trailer (move, position).
• Climb in and out of a tractor cab and trailer.
• Sit for extended periods of time in a truck tractor.
• Walk and stand on various surfaces that may be uneven or slippery.
• Operate a tractor/trailer combination for multiple consecutive hours, in all types of weather, while safely transporting products; and safely walk, reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat, and kneel as necessary to perform the job duties.
• Specific vision includes close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
• The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear.

Work Hours:

• Monday through Friday with a 40+ hour workweek.
• Overtime and Saturdays will be required as scheduled.

About the Company

Metalico is a leading full-service, broadly diversified scrap metal recycler, principally operating in the Northeastern United States. Our scrap operations source, buy, process, and sell four distinct groups of commodity metals for use in the manufacture of new products: +We recycle scrap steel and iron, which is sold primarily to domestic mills and foundries. +We recycle non-ferrous metals, principally aluminum, copper, lead, and nickel-based steel and high temperature alloys. These products are sold to domestic manufacturers and, to a lesser extent, to the export markets. +We buy catalytic converters and recover platinum, palladium, and rhodium, known as Platinum Group Metals (PGM's).
