Preceptor, Simulation Support - Nursing Skills LabWorks directly with nursing students in the simulated lab to develop competency with skills, providing a bridge between classroom theory and skills application. Collaborates with the Human Patient Simulation (HPS) team in the incorporation of simulation into nursing courses through implementing high-quality learning and assessment scenarios and assists with the evaluation of the effectiveness of simulation on the learning process; including student performance regarding simulated patient care decisions, participation and collaboration.Essential Functions:Reinforces the instruction provided by faculty by utilizing a variety of learning modalities in the labsAdvises and counsels students on proper documentation techniques and provides feedback to studentsAdministers competency testing to Nursing Skills Lab studentsMaintains record-keeping system to ensure program and students meet and maintain accreditation standardsAssists in the development of policies related to the Nursing Skill Lab programPerforms circulating duties to assist in the psychomotor portion of the curriculumMonitors simulation lab utilization ensuring supplies and equipment are gathered at locationsAssists with equipment/supplies setup and maintenance after sessionsOperates simulation equipment, including simulators, Audio/Visual and recording equipment, and assists with the training of other operators of the simulators as neededProvided updates on operations to Lab DirectorAnticipates and meets all customer needs accurately, professionally, and with a commitment to customer satisfactionPerforms other duties as assignedRequired Qualifications:Education and Experience/Training:Bachelor's Degree in NursingSignificant related experience may substitute educationActive, unencumbered Ohio Registered Nurse licenseMinimum of three (3) years of current clinical experience as an RNDemonstrated experience making sound decisions that affect a work unit or teamDemonstrated effectiveness in a role requiring dynamic and abstract problem-solving methods in adaptive situationsKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:Possess strong organizational and time-management skillsPossess excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skillsPossess excellent customer service skills and proven ability to develop and sustain productive customer relationshipsAbility to promote student successAbility to effectively complete work assignments independentlyPossess working knowledge of Nursing concepts, practices and procedures with the ability to use in varied situationsDemonstrated intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPointAbility to confidentially and discreetly handle subject matters requiring privacy and sensitivityAbility to foster a team environment and work collaborativelyAbility to develop and maintain relationships with key contacts to enhance work flow and qualityAbility to research and analyze issues and develop solutionsWorks accurately with great attention to detailPossess sensitivity to appropriately respond to the needs students and the communityAbility and willingness to work at alternative campus/site locations as directed based on student needAbility to work days, evenings, and/or weekends as neededCompetencies:Critical Competencies:Service FocusAdaptabilityQuality of WorkVery Important Competencies:CommunicationTime UtilizationImportant Competencies:CollaborationContinuous ImprovementPreferred Qualifications:Education and Experience/Training:Master's Degree in NursingDemonstrated experience in diverse learning strategiesDemonstrated experience working with nursing students in a clinical or educational settingDemonstrated basic critical care skillsDemonstrated experience with simulation lab environmentsPhysical Demands/Working Conditions:The work is performed in a normal, professional office environment;The work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated;Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the duties of the job and will perform repetitive motions with hands/fingers using a computer mouse and keyboard to type.
