Phlebotomist Opportunity

Position: Phlebotomist 5100

Location: Rockville, MD

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm and every other Saturday 8:00am-12:00pm

Projected Duration: 3 months with possibility of permanent placement

Summary: Seeking a Phlebotomist to assist with various assigned tasks, provide training, troubleshoot issues, and make recommendations for workflow improvement.

Position Responsibilities:

• Experience in blood draws, specimen labeling, specimen centrifuging, data recording, patient information updates, etc.
• Properly explain the venipuncture and other specimen collection procedures to patients in a clear and courteous manner
• Demonstrate proficiency using straight needles and butterfly needles
• Thoroughly understand all physician orders
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as needed
• Verify test requisitions for accuracy
• Prepare specimens for transport
• Adhere to proper specimen storage procedures and labeling requirements
• Follow OSHA and DEP regulations
• Participate in annual department trainings
• Handle telephone inquiries and provide laboratory results

Minimum Qualifications:

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment
• Minimum 5 years of venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience
