-Founded in 1973, serves as the primary academic support unit for UC Berkeley.
-Serves 12,000 undergraduates annually, approximately 30% of the undergraduate student population, in 12 academic and co-curricular programs.
-Employs 18 professional staff with disciplinary expertise, 300+ trained undergraduate tutors, and 20 graduate student instructors.
-Serves as the liaison between Berkeley administration and the DeCal program, a partnership that adds over 300 additional courses to the university's curriculum.

Custom Scope The SLC Math/Stat Program Coordinator assists the Program Directors in the administration of the SLC Math/Stat Program, from providing direct academic support service to students to managing the daily operations of the program.
Responsibilities The SLC Math/Stat Program Coordinator assists the Program Directors in the administration of the SLC Math/Stat Program, from providing direct academic support service to students to managing the daily operations of the program.
- 40% Essential: Utilizes academic support service models to support and enhance student learning, academic success, and intellectual development in Math/Statistics. Deliver established academic support services, from drop-in tutoring to adjunct/study group/exam review facilitation.
- 10% Essential: Assist with the supervision and training of peer tutorial staff.
- 10% Essential: Assist with the coordination of daily program operations, from user outreach to data collection to website maintenance.
- 10% Essential: Maintain knowledge of course and departmental curricula at UC Berkeley.
- 10% Essential: Collaborate with designated faculty, program staff, and/or program directors to address changes needed in academic support service.
- 10% Essential: Serve students in navigating the critical transition points in gateway courses into the Math and Statistics majors; specifically tending to the demands and expectations of the discipline. Support and mentor students with academic interests and professional goals in Math/Statistics.
- 10% Essential: Serve on Center-wide work committees to support the overall administrative needs and mission of the Center.
- Knowledge of STEM learning demands at the research university.
- Knowledge of how learning skills issues apply to a research institution.
- Knowledge of strategies in critical thinking, reading, writing, note taking, test taking, time management, and goal setting.
- Knowledge of specific learning theory, learning styles, affective issues, academic issues, and socio-cultural issues in applying academic support for students.
- Knowledge of current and theoretical models that influence the application and delivery of academic services (e.g., discipline-specific; student-population specific).
- Multicultural competencies; knowledge and experience working and interacting effectively with diverse groups of staff, faculty, and student populations.
- Strong oral and written communication skills; interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Ability to communicate information in small and large group settings.
- Ability to multitask and collaborate with others.
- Proficient computer skills including databases, word processing, spreadsheets, and web-based systems; basic graphic design skills.
- Master's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training (Required).
- The budgeted hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is up to $39.84/hour.
- This is a full-time (40 hours/week) position. This is a non-exempt, bi-weekly paid position.
- This is not a visa opportunity. This position does not include sponsorship of a new consular H-1B visa petition that would require payment of the $100,000 supplemental fee.
- This position is covered by the collective bargaining agreement between UAW (United Auto Workers) and the University of California Regents for RP or SV.
