Field Service Technician III

Multi‑state travel required — NY (primarily), VA, and ME Additional compensation: $500 monthly stipend plus mileage reimbursement Job Purpose Installs all Securus’ products, features and equipment including but not limited to phones, kiosks, WAPs, tablets and video terminals. Maintains, repairs, troubleshoots, and operates telecommunications hardware, associated LAN/WAN/Networking hardware/software, various electronic equipment and ensuring correctional facilities are installed to the applicable codes and standards both industry and Securus. Provides support to tablet customers by ensuring tablets are fully utilized, inventories are maintained, and damaged inventory is returned. Travels within an assigned area to complete installations, service calls and resolve complex issues. Serves as a subject matter expert (SME) and team leader for the Field Services team, training area technicians, assisting with complex service issues, and leading installs. Responsibilities Serve as SME and team leader for an assigned Field Services Team area. Assist Field Service Manager in resolving complex customer issues. Repair, maintain, program and install telecommunications hardware, LAN/WAN/networking hardware/software, and other electronic equipment within correctional facilities per specifications, codes, standards and operational procedures. Repair/install phones, kiosks, video terminals, WAPs, tablets and other required equipment. Provide support for site surveys, pre‑bid meetings and sales conferences. Gather, update, record and provide data to management and maintain related data and statistics. Communicate with dispatchers to receive work assignments and provide ETA for arrival and departure. Troubleshoot situations where standard procedures fail, interfacing with internal Securus organizations, vendors and contractors to find solutions. Assist in educating and training Securus customers and field service associates, providing information to internal departments and following direction regarding Securus products & services. Provide administrative services as needed: data entry (PIN/PAN), blocks/unblocks, customer reporting, training, CDR reports, video visitation, burning recordings per subpoena requirements, and testify in court when required. Manage and maintain assigned company inventories and assets (tool, vehicle, parts inventory, laptop, etc.). Plan and accomplish assigned tasks and goals using experience and judgment. Review and approve site survey and engineering as needed. Perform additional duties as assigned. Demonstrate proficiency with telephony, pulling and terminating cable, loading configuration files, and installing and maintaining all Securus equipment. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Take on a leadership role and assume responsibility for installation projects, repairs, and complex issues. Strong organizational, planning, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in installing, terminating and troubleshooting conduit, copper cabling, wireless networks and fiber optics; loading configuration files; installing and maintaining all Securus equipment. Adapt to change. Complete tasks with high urgency and quality. Negotiate alternative solutions and escalates issues when necessary. Respond to requests from management, tech support, area technicians, sales and customers via phone, e‑mail or reporting. Adhere to Field Service Standards and company policies outlined in the Employee Handbook. Self‑starter, able to self‑train and work independently with minimal supervision on complex projects in remote areas. Excel at multi‑tasking, prioritizing and tracking concurrent issues. Experience with Windows OS, VOIP, Adtran AOS, Cisco IOS, fiber and wireless technology. Strong communication skills for interacting with customers, dispatchers, technical support, specialists and management. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Experience in conduit bending (EMT and Rigid). 5 years of installation, repair and maintenance of telecom and networking devices. Experience in internal and/or external training programs and implementation of subject‑related topics. Experience with Windows OS, VOIP, Adtran, Fortinet, AOS, Cisco IOS and wireless technology. Telephony experience: pulling and terminating cable (Cat3 & Cat5, up to 100‑pair cabling); troubleshooting wiring/T1/CO dial tone. Knowledge of network cabling standards (Cat3, Cat5, Cat6) and installation procedures. Preferred Qualifications BICSI Certification. Electronics / Electrical Certification, Degree or License. 7 years or more of related experience. Wireless technology experience. Previous experience in law enforcement or correctional environment. Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, speak, listen, bend, reach, push, pull, lift, grasp, manipulate tools, type and use peripheral computer tools. The employee may be required to lift up to 45 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
