Seasonal - High Rope Course Director/Facilitator

Trail’s End Camp & Chestnut Lake Camps are seeking highly experience and qualified applicants to be part of our Outdoor Adventure Program at premier residential camps in Beach Lake PA.

We seek staff members who have demonstrated high ropes experience and love spending time teaching, bonding, and mentoring children and are open to meeting new people and having new experiences.

Staff are hired from around the world, and you will be surrounded by people with similar interests and passions. You will work alongside numerous ropes course instructors and outdoor adventure specialists to run one of the leading outdoor adventure programs in the camp world. This leadership role requires experience, skill, and knowledge in the area of outdoor adventure.

This is a great position for those with high ropes teaching experience, as well as those with enthusiasm for the outdoors, climbing, or working with people in a fun setting. We are especially looking for staff who are able to work the summer season, late June- August.

Outdoor Adventure Director Main Duties & Responsibilities:

• Teach in High Ropes and outdoor adventure including biking.
• Lead campers and staff in a safe and fun manner through our challenge course, which includes: zip line, giant swing, high ropes courses, a climbing.
• Demonstrate the ability to build trust, and confidence, fostering more effective communication with staff and campers.
• Lead camper groups in team-building activities designed to improve communication, leadership, trust, teamwork, and problem-solving.
• Communicate with campers and staff in a professional and friendly manner that instills trust, support, and creates lasting memories.
• Assess the safety functionality of all adventure equipment prior to use. Makes sure that the adventure course is clean of trash, safe, and in good working order.
• Lead camper on offsite tours including backpacking, kayaking, mountain biking, hiking
• Assist with maintenance and upkeep of challenge course, grounds, and equipment.

This role requires a high level of expertise, experience making lesson plans, supervising/guiding 8-12 staff, and will be providing feedback to those staff members informally and formally throughout the summer.

Must have formal experience in the activity area, strong organizational skills, be a self-starter and above all, creative!

You will be instructing children ages 7-16 at all ability levels as well as rental groups.
