Job Overview

The Cardiovascular Operating Room Registered Nurse (CVOR RN) provides specialized perioperative nursing care for patients undergoing cardiac and vascular surgical procedures. The CVOR RN functions in both circulating and scrub roles , working closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, surgical technologists, and other members of the cardiovascular surgical team to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care throughout the perioperative process.
• Serve as both a Circulating Nurse and Scrub Nurse during cardiovascular and thoracic surgical procedures.
• Prepare and maintain a sterile operating room environment.
• Verify patient identity, surgical site, procedure, and consent documentation.
• Set up and manage specialized cardiac surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies.
• Anticipate the needs of surgeons and the surgical team during procedures.
• Assist with open-heart, vascular, thoracic, and other cardiovascular surgeries.
• Monitor patient status and advocate for patient safety throughout the procedure.
• Coordinate with anesthesia, perfusion, and surgical staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Required Qualifications:

• 3 or more years of RN CVOR experience
• Circulation and Scrub experience
• PA or compact State RN License
• BLS Certification (AHA)
• ACLS Certification (AHA)
