Site Supervisor

Overview Manages, plans, organizes, and implements the care, development, and education of typically and atypically developing children ages birth to 5 years old. Ensures overall program compliance with CII policies, Early Head Start (EHS) and/or Head Start Program Performance Standards and Regulations, CA Department of Education, Child Development Division funding terms and conditions, Title 5 regulations, and Title 22 Community Care Licensing regulations. Responsibilities Uses independent judgment and discretion to plan and administer an EHS/HS and/or CDE program for children and families, implementing ECS philosophies, policies, and goals to improve program quality and outcomes. Determines and implements procedures to monitor and ensure compliance with applicable local, state, federal rules, and standards related to education, early childhood development, health, and safety regulations. Manages and supervises employees, overseeing daily records of each child’s attendance, health, behavior, child abuse or neglect reports, and communication with specialists or Family Service Workers. Maintains the physical condition of the facility, identifying and remedying issues that impede service quality and reporting unresolved matters to Operations. Analyzes and evaluates employee performance and center-based practices, preparing performance reviews and corrective action plans as required. Operates with little or no supervision, setting an example for staff and fostering an environment that embraces diversity, respects all cultures, and promotes understanding among children and staff. Investigates child or staff incidents, ensures agency/licensing forms are complete, and notifies appropriate authorities within required timeframes. Develops and maintains effective working relationships with parents, policy council or committee representatives, community agencies, other staff, and volunteers, representing CII and the ECS program to the community and stakeholders. Participates in the annual program self‑assessment and audits from funding sources. Adheres to family‑style meal requirements, records meal counts, and maintains knowledge of current practices and research in the early childhood education field. Completes other duties and special projects as assigned. Supervises teachers and assistant teachers, including training, work assignment, performance appraisal, rewarding, disciplining, addressing complaints, and resolving problems. Qualifications 2–4 years of progressive responsibility in an early childhood education setting. Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field from a four‑year university. 15 hours of Preventative Health and Safety training within 30 days of hire. Community Care Licensing Director’s Orientation within 30 days of hire. For Site Supervisor with EHS, minimum of 3 Infant/Toddler units to start, and total of six units attained before one year. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Bilingual Spanish & English speaking preferred. Reliable transportation to and from work sites as needed. Ability to handle confidential information, maintain patient privacy, and safeguard PHI. Participation in performance quality improvement activities. Sensitivity to cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the service population. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Punctual and dependable attendance. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Site Supervisor Permit or higher from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (required). CLASS Certification required; if not possessed, must be attained within six months of hire and maintained thereafter. Pediatric First Aid and CPR required within 30 days of hire. Intermediate knowledge of computer programs in a Windows environment. Physical Demands Stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, use hands to handle items, climb or balance, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl: as described in the detailed physical demand matrix. Tasks include lifting weights up to 25 pounds. Work Environment Moderate noise environment; no exposure to toxic chemicals, fumes, extreme temperatures, or electrical shock.
