OSGI Software Engineer
Client: Optum
Location: Remote
Duration: 3+ months
Project: Maintaining a legacy platform. Large legacy platform (UPM). UPM is a system of API’s that work with different consumers (log on to my UHC.com, that comes from the UPM platform). Series of API’s that use Spring library and OSGI bundles. Pull info and dependencies from this. OSGi was designed 15 years ago. Issue they are running into is that it is running on Java 7. Need to move platform/framework to Java 11, so they are on a more secure version. Eventually move off of OSGi, but that’s 1-2 years down the line.
Must Have Skills
- Proficient skills in Java-7/8/11, Spring, Spring boot, MVC and related Java eco-systems.
- Comprehensive understanding of OSGi, Felix, Spring, and associated integration OSGi bundles.
- Strong hands-on working experience using web services, OSGi, Spring, SOAP, REST Micro Services.
- Must have development & deploying experience to App servers: Tomcat, WebSphere.
- OSGi bundle-based Web-Service/Apps development and migration from Java-7 to Java-8/9/11.
- Understanding of modern technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, Splunk, Jenkins.
Nice To Have Skills
- Experience working with engineering platforms at scale in public + private clouds
- Experience working across fully automated stacks in a CI / CD ecosystem
- Experience with event driven architecture and technologies
- Experience with distributed data stores at scale
- Active in working with emerging technologies
- Experience working effectively across multiple functional areas in a matrixed environment
