Description:
Department: Respiratory
CRT is acceptable but RRT is preferred.
Number of treatments per day: 50-75+ depending on census.
Days will have 2 RTs for inpatient and 1 RT for outpatient.
Nights will have 1 RT for inpatient.
Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PCOT.
Types of patients: Mostly adults, with some pediatric and neonates in the ED.
Areas covered include inpatient, outpatient, and ED.
Future plans for a Sleep Lab and possible cross-training to Pulmonary/Cardiac Rehab.
Experience in pediatrics is preferred but not required.
Job duties for inpatient include ventilator management, ABG draws, CPAP/BiPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula, nebulizers, MDIs, and airway clearance.
Outpatient duties include setting up nocturnal pulse oximetry and blood gas analysis.
RTs are currently required to assist with intubation.
There is no supervisor or lead RT on shift.
Manager is available 24/7 and on call for weekends and overnights.
Shifts are 12 hours from 5:45 AM to 6:15 PM.
Night shifts may only have one RT, depending on census.
Manager schedules and accommodates requests when possible.
Every other weekend is required.
Holidays will require filling in as needed.
No call or standby call requirement.
All staff work together, with one designated RT assigned to the ER for a lighter workload that day.
There is no specific scrub color required.
Equipment used includes various ventilators, high flow oxygen devices, pulse oximeters, ABG analyzers, and CPAP/BiPAP devices.
There is a hospitalist or intensivist available during the day and on call at night.
Department-specific orientation is 2-3 days.
Cancellation policy allows for 2 shifts per 13-week contract.
The charting system used is MEDITECH.
