Medical Assistant/Patient Account Rep - Community Based Outreach

Hourly pay range: $23.00 min. - $29.35 max. Reporting to the Practice Manager, this position provides front and back office support performing various clerical and technical duties and is responsible for financial counseling of patients, effective management of financial transactions, andtimely entering of charges, patient referrals, and coordinates Vaccines For Children program. Performs front office duties such as scheduling patient appointments, patient registration, maintaining medical records, determining program eligibility and billing. Collects essential health, medical, and biographical information from the patient or the patient's parent/legal guardian to be placed into the medical record. Performs back office MA duties and assists the providers with basic procedures adhering to scope of training and experience. May perform duties at multiple work locations. Ability to meet all job & physical requirements as outlined in job description or as agreed through a work place accommodation. EDUCATION/TRAINING/ EXPERIENCE: 1. Training in medical terminology and front and back office operations preferred. 2. Ability to read, write and speak Spanish preferred. 3. Experience performing phlebotomy techniques including special procedures such as injections, blood cultures, skin tests, skin punctures, finger sticks and heel sticks preferred. 4. Computer literacy required, including Word and Excel. 5. Medical billing with ICD-10 and CPT coding experience highly desired. 6. Medical insurance verification and billing experience highly desired CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES: 1. Proof of completion of a medical assistant course from an accredited technical school required. 2. Proof of completion of the minimum training required either by certificate or validation of training by physician or qualified individual acting under the direction of a physician within 3-months of hire, per Title 16, to include medication administration by intramuscular, subcutaneous and intradermal injections, skin tests, and venipuncture or skin puncture for the purpose of withdrawing blood required. 3. Current CPR certification required.
