About this Role The Boston Ujima Project is seeking an experienced Finance Director to join its Senior Leadership Team. This role is crucial for overseeing financial operations and strengthening internal infrastructure, directly reporting to the Executive Director. The Finance Director will play a key strategic role in safeguarding the fiscal health of the organization while supporting its growth through quality programming. The ideal candidate will bring a collaborative spirit to enhance the organization’s financial systems and processes. The Finance Director is expected to manage complex financial operations, comply with tax regulations, lead budgeting processes, and direct audits and grant reporting, all while ensuring alignment with Ujima’s values and goals. Responsibilities Direct all routine accounting operations and provide rigorous analysis of general ledger accounts. Ensure timely preparation of documentation for reconciling essential accounts. Establish and execute financial protocols to safeguard the organization’s fiscal integrity. Monitor organizational liquidity and fiscal performance by evaluating spending and revenue streams. Lead the creation of annual operating and capital budgets reflecting organizational priorities. Manage the organizational audit and oversee the preparation of all state and federal filings. Partner with the Executive Director to direct the financial management of the Ujima Fund. Manage and negotiate external vendor contracts and renewals with Senior Leadership. Co-direct technology, vendor management, and office administration. Requirements Proven dedication to the vitality and wealth of working-class people of color. At least a decade in financial oversight, with three years in a senior leadership capacity. Strong collaborative aptitude, capable of working on high-level strategy with leadership. Comprehensive grasp of fiscal best practices and experience managing audits and filings. Skilled in tools like QuickBooks, and sophisticated spreadsheet modeling capabilities.
