Warehouse SupervisorThe responsibility of the Warehouse Supervisor is to lead and hold accountable the frontline warehouse staff, up to 15 personnel at a time, to achieve performance standards and the daily goals of the customer contracts. Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Supervisor will be responsible for the execution of the operational plan and ensures the performance of that plan on the floor. The leader must be pivotal and resourceful to remove obstacles throughout the shift and ensures the successful completion of that plan to finish the day strong. This requires being results oriented, forward thinking and will have a good understanding of distribution processes pertaining to the flow of goods in and out of the facility.This is a full-time position. Must be flexible to work when necessary outside normal business hours of operation and weekends with on call accessibility outside of normal business hours.Essential FunctionsProvide daily supervision to ensure the safe, clean, and efficient operation of the warehouseEnsures compliance with safety, sanitation, and security in accordance with OSHA, SQF and other policies and procedures. Reports any food safety issues to immediate reportDevelop and delegate work schedules and assignments to ensure a winning operationApply sound communication and motivational techniques in supervising, coaching and disciplining employeesMake appropriate adjustments to work schedules and resources to service the customer appropriately and finish the day on timeUnderstand inventory and storage utilization, co-mingling of product, rotation of product, and prevents inventory discrepanciesCommunicate daily workflow requirements to the Operations Manager and team to ensure timely completion of scheduled jobsProvide input to Operations Manager for performance evaluations, hiring and terminationsDirect and supervise all inbound and outbound shipments to ensure they are correct and carried out in a timely fashion, upholding United's high standards of quality and customer satisfactionTour the facility frequently to answer questions, evaluate operations and solve problemsMake recommendations to the Operations Manager on programs to improve operationsMeasure and drive performance through KPI's, data utilization, observation studies to make sound business decisions to elevate floor productivityPlan and allocate equipment and resources so that it is utilized in the most efficient mannerAssist in conducting physical inventories and cycle counts and reconciliation of inventory discrepanciesProvides training, direction and continuous development to new and current staffIn conjunction with Facility Maintenance, ensure proper preventive maintenance programs are completed on all equipmentReview operating goals and standards and monitor achievementUphold company's quality mission to "improve each day, adhere to customer and regulatory requirements, and continuously strive to exceed company and customer expectations."CompetenciesAttention to detail — Job requires being careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasksLeadership – Able to motivate, inspire and coach people to performanceTime management-Adjust work hours to accommodate fluctuations for busy periodsTeam oriented-Will work well with others to get projects completed and drive performanceCommunication proficiencyStress tolerance — Job requires accepting criticism and dealing calmly and effectively with high stress situationsDependability — Job requires being reliable, responsible, and dependable, and fulfilling obligationsAchievement/effort — Job requires establishing and maintaining personally challenging achievement goals and exerting effort toward mastering tasks while having a high degree of pride in the work one performsWork EnvironmentThis position works in a warehouse setting and office setting. Warehouse temperatures can vary according to the season.Required Education and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or equivalentThree years' experience in warehousing or comparable industry serving in a leadership type capacityStrong user of computer applications and data to support planning and team performanceProficient with Microsoft applications, specifically ExcelAt least one-year experience processing orders, transactions and or requests in distribution or comparable industryMust be able to effectively communicate in English both verbally and writtenComplete all safety and quality regulatory testing requirements to perform essential job functionsProven success leading teams and driving performanceExperience leading and implementing process improvement type projects with proven resultsMust be able to successfully pass a background screening and drug testPreferred Education and ExperienceAssociates degree or greater in related fieldCustomer facing experience in warehousing or similar type industriesExperience with SAP or ERP type platformsCertifications in LEAN, Kaizan, Six Sigma, Just-in-Time, 5SCertifications in Supply ChainPhysical RequirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to do frequent walking, bending, reaching and at times lifting when out on the warehouse floor.
