Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)The Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) plays a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment. The position requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes in an emergency setting.Position DetailsUnit: Emergency RoomShift Length: 12 hoursGuaranteed Hours: 36 hours per weekShift Notes: Mids from 11 AM to 11:30 PM; Weekend requirement based on unit needs.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide comprehensive nursing care to patients in a high-volume emergency department.Perform triage assessments and manage patient care in accordance with unit protocols.Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and ensure proper documentation.Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop patient-centered care plans.Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans as necessary.Manage ER holds and coordinate with inpatient RNs for bed placements.QualificationsExperience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in an emergency room or trauma center.Required Certifications: ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)BLS (Basic Life Support)NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)Licensure: Must hold a valid WA or Compact License.Unit InformationBed Capacity: 56 beds, with hall beds increasing capacity to 60-70.Fast Track Availability: Yes, with 6 beds dedicated to fast track services.Triage Area: Separate triage area with 5 beds; travel nurses may take a triage test for assignment.Psych/Secusion Rooms: Yes, includes a locked hall with 6 private treatment rooms.Patient Volume: Approximately 170-200 patients per day.Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:3, or 1:4 for low acuity.Common Diagnoses: Cardiac events, stroke, sepsis, DKA, respiratory issues, abdominal pain, and mental health concerns.Work EnvironmentEMR System: EpicIn-house Security: YesTransport Services: Radiology department is adjacent to the ED, with transport assistance available.Orientation: 1 day compliance training followed by a department-specific orientation.Additional InformationHoliday requirement: Must work holidays in November and December with consideration for one of the three holidays if unit demands allow.No call or standby requirements, with extra shifts available if desired.Professional dress code: Any professional colors are permitted.
