Help Keep Manufacturing Moving

EDCO is looking for a Buyer who knows that great manufacturing starts long before production begins.

As our Buyer, you’ll play a critical role in keeping EDCO’s manufacturing operations moving—sourcing materials, components, and services, working with trusted suppliers, and making sure the right materials arrive at the right time.

You’ll work closely with Estimating, Planning, Production, and R&D, giving you the opportunity to be involved in everything from everyday production needs to exciting new product development and prototype projects.

What You’ll Do

• Source and purchase materials, components, and outsourced services that keep production on schedule.
• Obtain competitive quotes and support the Estimating team with pricing and lead-time information.
• Place and manage purchase orders using Made2Manage (M2M).
• Work directly with suppliers to manage pricing, availability, lead times, deliveries, and discrepancies.
• Partner with Planning and Production to make sure materials are available when they’re needed.
• Help source prototype and specialty components for new product development and R&D projects.
• Monitor inventory and identify potential material shortages before they impact production.
• Build and maintain productive relationships with vendors and drive issues through to resolution.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is comfortable balancing multiple priorities, communicating with suppliers, and keeping things moving when deadlines matter.

The ideal candidate brings:

• 2+ years of purchasing, procurement, or materials experience in a manufacturing environment
• Experience with an ERP/MRP system; Made2Manage (M2M) experience is strongly preferred
• The ability to read engineering drawings, bills of material, and material specifications
• Strong Excel and Outlook skills
• Excellent communication, negotiation, follow-up, and organizational skills
• A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
• A proactive approach to identifying and solving material and supplier issues
• High school diploma or equivalent required. An associate or bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, or a related field is preferred.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Buyer is responsible for obtaining quotes, sourcing and procuring the materials, components, and outsourced services required to keep EDCO’s manufacturing operations running on schedule. Working primarily within the Made2Manage (M2M) ERP system, this role places and tracks purchase orders and partners closely with estimating, planning and production to ensure material is available when the build schedule calls for it. The Buyer also supports new projects (Estimating) or new product development (R&D) by sourcing prototype and specialty components or materials on short timelines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Source and procure raw materials, components, and outsourced services required to support EDCO manufacturing operations.

• Source and provide material or component quotes to the EDCO Estimating team.

• Ensure consistent material availability to support the production schedule and minimize downtime.

• Confer with vendors to obtain product and service information including pricing, availability, lead time, and delivery schedules.

• Place, maintain, and track purchase orders in the ERP system (Made2Manage / M2M).

• Communicate with vendors to resolve discrepancies in quantity, quality, pricing, or documentation, and drive corrective action to closure.

• Collaborate with planning and production teams to ensure accurate material requirements planning (MRP) and alignment with build schedules.

• Support new product development with timely sourcing of prototype and specialty components.

• Monitor inventory levels and investigate discrepancies; escalate risks to material availability.

• Participate in monthly physical inventory counts and reconciliation.

• Promote and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

• Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, or a related field preferred.

• Two or more years of purchasing, procurement, or materials experience in a manufacturing environment.

• Working knowledge of an ERP/MRP system; experience with Made2Manage (M2M) strongly preferred.

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, bills of material, and material specifications.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Outlook.

• Strong negotiation, follow-up, and vendor communication skills.

• Highly organized with the ability to manage competing priorities and firm delivery dates.

• Accuracy and attention to detail in data entry, order management, and inventory records.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Work is performed in both office and manufacturing environments.

• Regular exposure to plant floor conditions including noise, dust, and moving equipment; required PPE must be worn.

• Must be able to sit, stand, and walk throughout the workday and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.

• Occasional supplier or facility visits may be required
